Gaming on Linux has drastically improved thanks to tools like Proton and Wine, which essentially translate Windows games/applications to be understood and run by Linux. Due to some limitations, not all games work using this method, though.

Anticheat Games

Due to some companies being stubborn and technical limitations, some anticheat games might not run on Linux. Check out areweanticheatyet.com

Steam

To game using Steam. Make sure to:

  1. Click on “Steam” in the top left corner, select “Settings,”
  2. Then go to the “Steam Play” section and check the box for “Enable Steam Play for all other titles.”
  3. After that, restart Steam to apply the changes.

GOG, Epic Games, etc

To run and install games from stores like Good Old Games (GOG) and Epic Games, you can use Heroic Games Launcher or Lutris

Emulation

Emulators generally run as well or, in some cases, even better under Linux and should not cause any problems.
